What causes a tear trough?
As aging progresses, the fat, muscles, periosteum, and bones under the skin change.
When this happens, the volume decreases. As the bones contract, the skin is pulled through tissues, such as ligaments, and descends, pulling the ligaments and making them deeper, resulting in a tear trough.
